ASOS names XPO to manage new fulfilment centre

XPO Logistics will manage the new 437,000 sq ft warehouse when operations commence in August.Earlier this year, ASOS invested £90 million in a new distribution hub, creating 2,000 new jobs over the next three years.

The new contract expands XPO’s eight-year relationship with the online fashion giant, which has also renewed XPO’s long-term contract to manage the existing Asos flagship fulfilment centre in Barnsley, Yorkshire. It also manages a UK returns site for Asos in Doncaster.Mark Holland, chief operating officer at ASOS, said: “Over the past eight years, the XPO team has proven itself to be a superb partner for us, so we are very pleased to be expanding the scope of XPO’s role as we build the foundations for our future growth in the UK and around the world.”The importance of its new fulfilment centre opening comes at a time when ASOS continues to thrive and expand. Last week, the etailer recorded record sales in the six months to the end of February and saw an “exceptional UK performance” with 39% sales growth. The UK website currently serves over 7.8 million customers. And ASOS also noted how important its logistics systems are. The company said H1 saw over 100 new delivery enhancements and 18,300 new Click & Collect locations to expand total Click & Collect offering to 166,000 locations globally.
